Embracing the Dance of Life: Achieving Balance with Workday’s Support
At Workday, we believe that a fulfilling career and a thriving personal life shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. Many of us strive to balance work, passions, and family responsibilities. Having the right support system can make this ongoing journey much easier. It’s important to me that my company values all aspects of my life: my career, my family, and my personal relationships. Many of us strive to balance work, passions, and family responsibilities. Having the right support system, through benefits, flexible work arrangements, leave options, and mental health resources, can make this ongoing journey much easier. Our Family-friendly benefits, including flexibility, childcare support, and more, have not only helped manage daily responsibilities but also allowed me to grow both as a professional and as a parent.
Investing in Education: Workday’s Childcare Allowance
When it comes to balancing work and family, Workday offers benefits that make a tangible difference in my daily life. As a mother, my experience has been most focused on the family-friendly benefits. One of the most valuable benefits is the childcare allowance. It’s more than just financial support — it’s an investment in my son’s growth. Every month, I make sure to use a dedicated amount for his educational gifts that support his learning experience. Having a dedicated fund for this pushes me to prioritize his development, which is something I might otherwise overlook amid the day-to-day responsibilities.
The Power of Workday’s Flexible Work Model for Working Parents
Flexible work arrangements are a game-changer for caregivers, providing them with the flexibility and autonomy they need to balance their work and caregiving responsibilities. Our flex work model — spending 50% of our time in the office and the rest remotely — allows me to structure my work day in a way that fits both my family’s needs and the business’s needs. Whether I’m adjusting my schedule to avoid peak commute hours or working from home during particularly busy family times, this flexibility gives me the freedom to balance my professional responsibilities with my role as a parent.
As a mother of a young child, this flexibility has been invaluable. There are days when I need to take care of family matters, and being able to shift my work schedule gives me peace of mind. I can be there for my family when they need me the most, which in turn helps me be more focused and productive when I’m working. This kind of balance has allowed me to excel in my career without feeling stretched too thin.
Since my son started school, our daily routine has evolved. His learning journey is exciting to watch — schools today focus on more than just academics; they help children build social skills and emotional intelligence through creative activities. It’s wonderful to witness his growth, and thanks to the flexibility Workday offers, I can dedicate time each day to help him with his schoolwork after a busy work day. It’s become a cherished routine for us, one that allows me to be fully present both as a parent and as a professional.
The Benefits of Workday’s RethinkCare Program
Workday provides additional resources that support Workmates in their personal and professional growth. I haven’t personally used RethinkCare yet, but it’s a great benefit that Workday offers. RethinkCare offers coaching and education to help us perform at our best, whether that’s in the office or at home. With on-demand training in areas like stress management, communication, and focus, it’s designed to help Workmates develop skills that benefit both work and family life. And the fact that you can access live, virtual consultations with Workplace Experts to address specific needs makes it such a valuable resource.
Compassionate Leave: A Safety Net for Workmates During Trying Times
Another important benefit is Workday’s Compassionate Leave Policy. Knowing that there’s support in times of difficulty is very reassuring. Whether it’s dealing with caregiving needs, or unplanned school closures, having up to 10 days of paid leave per event ensures that Workmates can focus on their personal needs without the added stress of work commitments. This policy also allows us to help others — whether by providing rest breaks to caregivers or supporting someone in need.
Ultimately, the benefits Workday provides allow me to be fully present — both at work and at home. Whether it’s the flexibility in my schedule, the childcare allowance, or knowing I have access to additional support if needed, these programs keep me engaged, motivated, and grateful for the balance I’ve found in my life.
